Every day, in one way or another, we try to have impact on others and address them in a different way. We strive to complete projects on time and within budget and go the extra mile to convince others. The training “respectfully influencing” supports you to take others along into your story with an eye for others, yourself and the relationship.

For whom?

The training course is aimed at anyone who in their job needs to enthuse people and convince them to follow your advice, whether or not from a managerial position. You are a project manager, consultant, manager, etc.

 

Why?

  • You believe that you can achieve more by communicating in a different way.
  • You are not satisfied with how others respond (or not) to what you say, and you want to learn what you can do (differently / more / better) to get the desired response.
  • You wish to become more effective in having more impact on the desired response.
  • You would like to have more influence with respect for yourself and for others.

Objectives & results

Objectives

After the training, you can expect that you will:

  • have acquired the understanding that influence is not just a matter of applying techniques, but that your whole person (values, beliefs, intentions, non-verbal and verbal behaviour) determines whether you reach your goal or not
  • have insight into the basic conditions to influence respectfully
  • have insight into your own style of influencing and possible consequences
  • have insight into your own strengths and weaknesses
  • have insight into the factors that determine the acceptance of an advisory process
  • have insight into empathic listening and use this skill to create goodwill
  • be able to respectfully bring difficult messages
  • be able to formulate specific learning objectives and an action plan to increase your influencing skills

  • be able to continue your personal development after the training

Flipped programme

The training consists of 3 days.

In advance

  • You will receive a feedback document that you fill out and ask another relevant person to complete as well. Based on this input, you will formulate your personal expectations and questions for this training.
  • You will be asked to complete an online personality test and communicate the results before the training starts.

During the training

Day 1 & day 2

  • acquaintance, introduction, expectations
  • the advisory process
  • my stakeholders and I: who are they and how do they position themselves with regard to me and/or my proposal
  • communication skills: active listening / giving and receiving feedback / dealing with resistance

Day 3

  • my stakeholders and I: personal style, qualities and pitfalls
  • omega strategy holder’s resistance
  • alpha strategy holder’s resistance diminishes quality
  • acceptance in the advisory process

Afterwards

As a community member of Learning Circles:

  • you have access to the shared materials
  • you can contact your trainer for a free consultation.

Approach (how)

Flex

This training starts from and builds further on your practice, experience and learning.
In the training we create a constructive, interactive, self-driven, results-oriented and safe learning environment.

Our training has an interactive character with varied methods. We bring in short, convenient models of teaching and group dynamic skills and we constantly put theory into practice.

  Experience: via an exercise or short gaming assignment experience how someone tries to influence.

Reflection: we will discuss its course, your feedback as well as the feedback of the trainer and the group.
Concept, theory: short and practical presentations, followed by personal and collective reflection on own professional practice.
Experiment: the system aims to inspire and support you in implementing changes in your work and to try out these learning experiences.
Continuous learning process: the training consists of two modules, which give room to experiment, and to take your new experiences and questions to the next module.

3 intensive, but instructive days, of which 2 days residential

1.360 Euros excl. VAT (price includes course materials and training session)

extra cost: 290 Euros excl. VAT (1 night in a shared multiple bedroom, 1 dinner with dessert, 1 breakfast, 4 lunches, coffee breaks and free use of a 23ha domain)

You can use the SME-portfolio (application in progress) and/or the learning fund.
